Privacy Policy

Account information. When you create a Footing account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials, which are used to sign you in and secure your account.

LinkedIn connection data. If you choose to import your LinkedIn connections using the Footing browser extension, we collect information about your connections as it appears on LinkedIn — names, job titles, companies, profile photos, and LinkedIn profile identifiers. This import runs only when you start it, and only for the LinkedIn account you are already signed in to in your own browser.

Contacts you curate. When you choose specific connections to stay close to, we store that selection and any details tied to those contacts within your account.

We never ask for, receive, or store your LinkedIn username or password. The extension uses your existing, already-signed-in LinkedIn browser session to read your connections; your LinkedIn credentials never pass through Footing.

The Footing extension has a single purpose: importing your LinkedIn connections into your Footing account so Footing can help you maintain those relationships. When you start a sync, the extension reads your connections from LinkedIn using your current LinkedIn session and sends them to Footing’s servers over an encrypted connection, tied to your Footing account.

The extension requests only the browser permissions it needs to do this and does not track your browsing, inject advertising, or collect data from other websites.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide the Footing service — showing your connections and helping you curate and stay in touch with them.
• Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• Operate, maintain, and improve the product.
• Communicate with you about your account or the service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Your data is stored with our infrastructure provider (Supabase) and is access-controlled so that it is private to your own Footing account. We rely on industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and per-account access controls, to protect it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to it.

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process data on our behalf to run Footing (such as our hosting and database provider), and only as needed to provide the service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and Footing.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your imported connections or your entire account at any time; when you delete your account, we remove your associated personal data, except where we are required to retain it by law. To request deletion or export of your data, contact us at the email below.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at [privacy@footing.app]. We will respond as required by applicable law.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Footing after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
